Why did you decide to travel with ISV?

I had always been passionate about wildlife and intersted in travelling to Africa and ISV was a fantastic opportunity to bring these together.

Please describe your Volunteer Project:

I was in the Lapalala game reserve. We would go out everyday and carry out feild work in the middle of this reserev whilst surrounded by animals such as rhinos, zebras, impala, and giraffes! We were doing habbitat assesments, game count drives and bird point counts. This information would be used by the reserve’s scientists to evealuate whether elephants and lions could be re-introduced into the reserve.

“I had the best time with ISV because…”

The whole trip was amazing. Everything was planned and ready for us to do, and allowed us just to enjoy the experience without stressing about the arrangements.

What did you learn from your ISV Program?

It showed me a whole different perspective of the world. I now appreciate so much more how much I have and I saw first hand that some of the people with the least are the happiest people. I also am now aware of the big and controversial conservation problems south africa faces and it has furthe ignited my intrest in working and helping in such areas
