This week's Rep Spotlight is on:
Joshua Baller
University of Alberta
South Africa 2011
What was your volunteer project?
We provided health education classes to children in an at-risk community in Hout Bay. We focused on life skills, HIV/AIDS awareness, STI awareness, and personal problems.
What was the most memorable moment of your ISV Program?
As we were driving away on the last day of the volunteer project, the children chased our van down the school's driveway for several minutes waving and crying.
The top 5 reasons to travel with ISV are:
1. It is insanely fun!
2. Better organized than other programs!
3. The cultural immersion!
4. Meeting incredible people!
5. Making a difference in the world!
What did you learn from your ISV Program?
I learned more about South African culture and history from a hands-on perspective than I could ever have hoped to!
