DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN NADI (ORIENTATION)
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN NADI (ORIENTATION)
After your New Zealand Four-Week Program, take this ideal opportunity to board the plane bound for your Tropical Fiji Escape. ISV’s Excursion Leader will greet you at the airport and transfer you to Smugglers Cove Beach Resort, situated right on the famous Wailoaloa Beach. Smuggler’s Resort has a young and fun atmosphere and you will stay in clean dormitory style accommodation with an ocean front pool, bar and restaurant.
DAY 2: BOAT TRANSFER TO BAREFOOT ISLAND
This morning we will say Moce (goodbye) to the mainland and head to the Yasawa Islands. Barefoot Island provides an eco-experience where the sand meets your doorstep and the Pacific Ocean laps just meters from your window. Kick off your shoes as the hospitable staff of Barefoot Island welcome you to your home for the next two nights. Here you’ll stay in simple 6 share safari style tents right on the beach and enjoy hearty meals outside in the shade for lunch, and under the stars at dinner!
DAY 3: BAREFOOT ISLAND (FREE DAY)
Today is a free day to spend how you choose. During the day you can choose to explore one of three beaches (Sunrise, Manta-ray or Sunset beach) that are all part of a protected marine reserve…..relax under a coconut palm or get out and about with some water sports like diving or snorkeling around the pristine coral gardens. There is also a unique marine activity that happens only around this time of year. During the months from May to October the warm tropical waters surrounding the island provide the perfect conditions for a plankton feast for the gentle giants of the sea - manta rays and from Barefoot Island you have the opportunity to swim with these majestic creatures. This activity only happens when the Manta come into the channel……so fingers crossed!
DAY 4: BOAT TRANSFER TO KUATA ISLAND
This morning it’s time to relax island style, or if you haven’t had enough of the ocean, head out on a snorkel to the pristine corals just off the beach and check out all the beautiful tropical fish that frequent the coastline. This afternoon we board the ferry and head to the bottom of the Yasawas to Kuata Island. Keep your eyes peeled for the warrior on the rock who will welcome you to this island paradise!
DAY 5: KUATA ISLAND (FULL DAY WAYA SEWA HIKE AND VILLAGE VISIT)
Today we will hike to the summit of Waya Sewa for amazing views of the Yasawa Island chain followed by a walk across the beautiful Wayalailai Island to an isolated community where we will get to see how the locals (including the staff from Kuata) live on a daily basis. We will visit a school to meet and interact with Fijian children. This full-day experience will showcase the less-touristic side of Fiji, and is a firm highlight of the Fijian excursion.
DAY 6: BOATS TRANSFER TO BOUNTY ISLAND (SNORKEL WITH SHARKS)
This morning we head off to Moua Reef, which is only a short boat ride from the white sandy beaches of Kuata Island. The reef is a spectacular site from above and below the water, with an abundance of colorful fish and beautiful corals. This outer reef is also home to some friendly reef sharks - jump in and snorkel with them! It gets the adrenalin pumping, but they eat fish not people so no need to worry! Later today we will jump on our ferry and head off to Bounty Island – the jewel of the Mamanuca Islands.
DAY 7: BOUNTY ISLAND (SEA SPRAY FULL DAY SAILING CRUISE)
Get ready for an entire day of sailing and island hopping in the Mamanuca Islands! Two of the standout stops are on Modriki Island and Yanuya Island. Modriki (pronounced 'Mon-driki') has white sandy beaches and crystal clear water - this island is the famous location of the film “Castaway” starring Tom Hanks. Spend the day snorkeling, exploring the deserted island, sunbathing on the soft sand, or reading a book under a coconut tree. When you step ashore at Yanuya, your smile will just grow wider as you meet the local villagers. Here the villagers will welcome you with a Kava ceremony and traditional meke (dance) performance.
DAY 8: BOAT TRANSFER TO NADI (TRAVEL HOME)
After a relaxing morning it’s time to finish your souvenir shopping, take those final photos, say goodbye to nemo and board the ferry bound for Nadi. Transfer to the airport and it’s time to say Vinaka (thank you) and see you next time!
