If you are part of a group looking to volunteer and make a difference, ISV can customize a program to suit your needs provided your area of interest fits with our mission. ISV’s projects aim to contribute to sustainable development with a focus on environmental conservation and social community development. 

Our regular projects are 2 weeks in duration. However, ISV has the ability to customize a quality program of varying lengths and focus that will exceed your expectations. Group sizes are a minimum of 8 volunteers (depending on the project and your group needs). Contact ISV with your enquiry and group trip needs. In South Africa, ISV projects aim to protect the nation’s incredible biodiversity of plants and animals, while contributing to sustainable development, children’s education and building communities.

Skilled Group Trip: Medical Projects and Health support

Aside from the numerous specialty group trips listed below, ISV offers a wonderful experience for volunteers who are medical students or working in the medical field. Spend 2 fulfilling weeks near Cape Town supporting township communities in significant need of medical care. Not only will you assist care-givers on their daily visits to the homes of impoverished people, you will teach and share your skills in an ‘exchange’ program. The home based care helps those without family or resources that cannot take care of themselves. Each carer visits at least 10 patients every second day, or daily depending on patient needs. Tasks include reporting on patient progress, assisting in giving patients medication, baths and helping with meal preparation when needed. You will take on responsibilities as your skills and experience allow. An exciting aspect of the project is that you will also have the opportunity to share your medical knowledge with the care givers and potentially improve medical care in the community.
